José David Solano Garro (Saxophonist, Professor University of Costa Rica and Ministry of Public Education)

José David Solano Garro currently works as a professor of saxophone at the University
of Costa Rica - Caribbean Campus and as a professor of Music Education and
Saxophone at the Ministry of Public Education. He completed his bachelor’s degree in saxophone Performance at the University of Costa Rica and a Licentiate ́s degree in saxophone ́s teaching, graduating with honors. In 2024, he earned a master’s degree with an emphasis in Jazz performance from the National University, Honor mention cum laude. He won third place in the 2008 Pan-American Saxophone Competition in Mexico City; he was also a five-time winner of the honors competition organized by the EAM UCR (University of Costa Rica). In 2009, he received an award from the Rector's OZice of the University of Costa Rica as an outstanding student for representing the country and the university internationally. He has performed as a soloist with ensembles such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, the UCR Symphony Orchestra, and the National Saxophone Ensemble, among others. He has been a member of prestigious groups such as the LA Big Band de Costa Rica, Erick Sánchez y su Orquesta and Orquesta la Solución. He has had the opportunity to play the saxophone in countries such as Mexico, the United States, Colombia, and Nicaragua.
