Jason Parfait
JasonBorn in Houma, Louisiana, saxophone player Jason Parfait was always surrounded by musicians in his family. Both of his parents were vocalists and his father was an avid guitar player. During his school age years, Jason was always involved with the school band and then at age 17 began his professional career, with his step-father, in the Bourre’ Band. This beginning led to his participation and recordings with regional favorites, such as Treater, Don Rich, Foret Tradition, and his involvement and contributions with over 100 albums with other artists.
With Jason’s passion for the saxophone, his influences include Junior Walker, King Curtis, Jon Smith (Edgar Winter’s White Trash, Toto, and Doobie Brothers), Johnny Colla (Huey Lewis and the News), Lenny Pickett (Tower of Power), Richard Elliot, Dave Koz, Gerald Albright…..and the list goes on. With such a wide range of musical interests and with this variety of exposure, Jason has the talent and ability to play any style of music.
Some of his accomplishments include his performance for the Miss USA pageant with Marc Broussard, and his featuring at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for many years. One of the highlights of his career was performing with Percy Sledge as well as appearing in two movies, The Badge and Happy, Here and Now. With an extensive list of contributions to known talent, Jason has worked with regional legends such as TK Hulin, GG Shinn, Johnnie Allan, Jivin’ Gene, Joe Barry, Tommy Mclain, Jerry LaCroix, Warren Storm, Willie Tee, The Fabulous Boogie Kings, and Wayne Toups. Jason has also worked with many national/international artists, such as Kenny Neal, T Graham Brown, Marc Broussard, Morgan James, Harry Connick Jr, The Drifters, The Temptations, Joey Fatone (N’Sync), and country supergroup Little Big Town. He also recorded on Actor Leslie Jordan’s album “Company’s Coming” (“Farther Along”, featuring Chris and Morgane Stapleton). By far, his biggest accomplishment has been being able to primarily make a living in the music business!
With his most recent venture, the 504 Horns, Jason has performed numerous shows with Marc Broussard, The Mixed Nuts, After Party, and recorded an album with Ray Boudreaux from Season 5 of NBC’s popular TV show “The Voice”. The 504 Horns have also recorded on the latest Kenny Neal album “Straight From the Heart”, as well as Tito Jackson’s new album “Under Your Spell” (featuring Stevie Wonder, George Benson, and Joe Bonamassa).
Jason is a father of four children who are also inclined to the arts: Jason Michael Parfait (saxophone), Nathan Parfait (sings), Kerrie Parfait (saxophone), and Kaylee Parfait (dances, and saxophone, and entrepreneur). Much to be proud of!
Jason currently tours full-time with singer/songwriter Marc Broussard (www.marcbroussard.com), and averages 150 performances per year with a continued list of about 10 seasoned bands around the South Louisiana when he’s off the road.
Because of his respected position among saxophone artists, he has endorsement roles with Theo Wanne Mouthpieces, Shure Microphones, Key Leaves, Peak Music Stands, and BG France.
