INSTRUCTIONS - Silk Cleaning Swab for Saxophone
How to use a Key Leaves Silk Swab to clean your saxophone
⚠️ WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD
Small parts—Not for Children under 6 yrs old. Buyer and user assume all risk of use of this product.
⚠️ WARNING: This swab is different than other swabs. It has more material to clean better and faster. Read all instructions before use!
⚠️ WARNING: Make sure you are using the correct size of swab for your specific saxophone. For example, alto sax swab for alto sax.
- Tip your saxophone bell so dripping moisture can run out of the bell.
- Always untie knots in the swab cord. Keep it loose and free to clean.
-
Drop cord weight into the bell (not the neck or body socket).
- Feed cord into bell.
- Fluff out the silk near the bell so it is not doubled on itself and can clean freely.
- Guide the cord weight through the sax body by carefully tipping the sax so the weight drops out of neck socket.
- Pull slow and steady through the body.
-
Repeat steps for sax neck cleaning.
- Repeat steps for mouthpiece cleaning.
- After test cleaning each body part individually, test a total body swab cleaning (some sax octave pips do not allow this). If your sax allows a full body cleaning, do it every time for a total sax clean!
-
Fold the silk into a ball and wrap it in the cord.
- Place inside the case to “crinkle” dry. This makes the silk even more bloused for the next cleaning.
Clean your silk swab occasionally by washing it with hand soap and water, then lay it flat or hang it to air dry for 24 hours.
For even deeper clean of your instrument use the:
Spit Sponge™ pad dryer to blot dry pads that get extra wet during play.
Key Leaves® key props to leave keys open to air dry after play.
Cleaning cloths to keep your instrument finish bright and clean.
Mouthpiece cleaning brush to prevent bio film and buildup near your mouth.
